    Why Remove Table Formatting Essential?

While table formatting is excellent for making your data seem neat and clean, there are situations in which you may choose to remove it:

    Streamlining the process

A table’s abundance of decorative lines and colours might sometimes be distracting. If formatting is removed, data can be better understood.

    Changing things up

You may want to incorporate your formatting or attempt a different style. To make a clean slate, remove the formatting from the tables.

    Sharing with others

Only some people are interested in or need all the fancy table format. Removing the formatting can make your data more accessible to others.

Methods to Remove Table Formatting in Excel

    Method 1: Convert to Range

    • To remove table formatting, this is a simple method:
    • Click anywhere inside your table.
    • Select “Table Design” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose the option “Convert to Range.”

When you convert a table to a range in Excel, the tool will prompt you to confirm. Go ahead and click “Yes,” and then poof! Once you deselect the formatting, your table will look like any other set of cells.

    Method 2: Clear Formatting

If you prefer a more minimalist approach without sacrificing table structure, this solution is perfect for you:

    • Click inside your table.
    • Select the “Home” option.
    • Locate the “Editing” subgroup.
    • To clear the selection, click the small arrow next to “Clear.”
    • Then, choose “Clear Formats.”

Your table’s formatting is gone in an instant, but everything else remains the same.

    Method 3: Using Format Painter

Format Painter allows you to transfer formatting from one location to another. It can also be used to erase formatting.

    • To remove formatting from a cell, click on it.
    • Choose the “Home” option.
    • Find the “Clipboard”.
    • The Format Painter can be checked by clicking on the small paintbrush icon.
    • Click on the cells you wish to edit to erase formatting.

If you want to remove formatting instead of copying it, double-click the Format Painter before you click on the cells. Magic!

    Method 4: Clear Table Style

There are table styles in Excel that you can choose for your tables.

    • Click inside your table.
    • Press the “Table Design” button.
    • Locate the “Table Styles” section and the small arrow next to “More.” Click on that.
    • Navigate to the “Clear” option.

Your table style is gone in an instant, but all the other formatting you’ve done remains intact.

    Method 5: Remove Cell Styles

Removing particular cell styles from your table formatting is an easy task:

    • To delete styles, select the cells containing them.
    • Select the “Home” option.
    • Pick “Cell Styles” from the drop-down menu in the “Styles” section.
    • You can remove a style by hovering over it.
    • Select “Clear” from the menu next to the style’s name.

When you do this, your chosen cell styles will be removed from those cells.

    Method 6: Clear Conditional Formatting

One of Excel’s most useful features, conditional formatting, lets you highlight cells according to predefined criteria. Just follow these procedures to get rid of conditional formatting in your table:

    • Select the cells with conditional formatting that you want to remove.
    • Select the “Home” option.
    • Locate the “Styles” section and then choose “Conditional Formatting.”
    • Pull up the “Clear Rules” option.
    • Choose “Clear Rules from Selected Cells” to isolate the cells with conditional formatting and remove them from the rest.

    Conclusion

Excel makes it easy to remove table formatting and quickly return to basics by eliminating all the unnecessary colors and lines using these easy approaches. Excel can help with data simplification, style experimentation, or readability issues. Try these techniques, and you’ll be surprised at how simple it is to erase Excel table formatting! Also, take some Microsoft Excel classes if you want to understand all the ins and outs of the program and become an expert spreadsheet user.
